AI Scope Definition & System Mapping

Know exactly which AI systems belong in your governance programme. We map the tools and workflows in use, agree what is in scope and document the boundary so it can be explained and reviewed — rather than narrowed to avoid scrutiny.

AI Scope Definition & System Mapping pricing

Choose the scope that fits your organisation. Starter is a £149 single-team scope definition; Pro is a £349 full organisational scope with risk-based boundary mapping. An annual scope refresh is available as a £99 add-on. These are service options, separate from the Trestano Starter and Pro software plans.

From £149Starter £149 · Pro £349 · annual scope refresh add-on £99

Best for: SMEs adopting AI across multiple teams that need clarity on what is in scope, or a single team establishing its first AIMS boundary.

AI Scope Definition & System Mapping includes

  • A defined AI Management System (AIMS) boundary aligned to ISO/IEC 42001
  • An inventory of AI tools, systems and workflows within the agreed scope
  • A clear record of what is included and excluded, with reasons
  • Identification of higher-risk systems that must not be overlooked
  • A boundary map you can use in governance reviews and audit preparation

Choose your scope

Both options produce a documented boundary and system inventory. The difference is how far across the organisation the mapping goes.

  • Starter — £149: single-team scope definition, including that team's AI tools and workflows.
  • Pro — £349: full organisational scope and risk-based boundary mapping across teams, including higher-risk systems.
  • Annual scope refresh — £99 add-on: revisit the agreed boundary and inventory as tools and workflows change.

Why the boundary matters

A management system cannot govern what it leaves out. Defining scope too narrowly can leave consequential tools and workflows outside review. We make the boundary explicit and document the reasoning, so the organisation can show what it governs and why.

What you receive

A practical system inventory and boundary map tied to the teams and workflows actually using AI. The record identifies inclusions, exclusions and areas needing further review, giving you a starting point for ownership, risk classification and an ISO/IEC 42001-aligned AIMS.

Common questions

Is the service Pro option the same as a Pro software subscription?

No. Starter and Pro here describe the scope of this one-off service, not your Trestano software plan. You can enquire about either option on any plan.

Does this certify us to ISO/IEC 42001?

No. It helps define and document your AIMS scope in alignment with ISO/IEC 42001; it is not certification or a guarantee of audit outcome.

What does the annual refresh cover?

The £99 add-on revisits the documented boundary and inventory to reflect changes to the tools, systems and workflows in scope. It does not replace ongoing monitoring or a full audit.

Not sure which you need?

Run the free AI register first — it takes about ten minutes and usually makes the answer obvious. Or tell us what you're dealing with and we'll point you at the right thing.

Not legal advice. Trestano provides governance tooling, documentation and practical guidance. It isn't a substitute for advice from a qualified solicitor or your own compliance team.
